Watch MLB Live
Although the sport of Baseball often gets overlooked by sports fans in the United Kingdom, although it does have a considerable and passionate fanbase, but if you were to ask 100 sports fans to name a Baseball competition, the likelihood is that the majority would not only name Major League Baseball (MLB) but the chances are that they would only be able to name the leading North American competition.
That is down to a number of reasons, from the fact that the sport features in many Hollywood movies and tv programmes to the fact that the league as made moves to promote themselves over on this side of the Atlantic but perhaps the biggest reason why so many sports fans can name the league is the quality of the competition.
The MLB is simply a must watch for any Baseball fan as it not only features the best players from the United States of America and Canada, where the teams are based, but ever increasingly it attracts stars from across the globe.
Just as the Premier League attracts top stars from across the globe to British football clubs, MLB attracts the best stars from other leagues across the globe with just about every squad in the league made up of a handful of local stars and filled out by players from across South and Central America as well as from across the Pacific with a number of top Japanese stars attracted by the huge money on offer in the US and Canada.
Despite all of that, trying to watch the MLB live on British television can be a hugely frustrating experience.
With matches happening daily throughout the season and with teams player 4-5 times a week, there is lots of great Baseball action to watch but even if you are in the fortunate position to have an expensive and ongoing subscription to a pay tv channel that shows MLB coverage, you will likely only ever be able to watch a select number of matches.
That often leads fans to miss out on their team or on the big match of the day that they were wanting to watch but thankfully there is now a way that you can easily watch the action that you want to watch live from the MLB and that is by using the great MLB live stream services found on this page.
If you do decide to watch Major League baseball via the streaming services of the online bookmakers found on this page, you will need to be aged 18 or over and have a funded account but you can then watch live Baseball from the MLB all season long.

History
The history of the MLB is a long and storied one that can be traced back to the 1960’s, when the sport of Baseball spread throughout the civil war cameps and moved from a regional sport played in the New York region to a national one, come the end of hostilities.
That spawned the first governing body named the National Association of Base Ball Players (NABBP) and that ran amateur leagues for just over a decade.
By 1867, more than 400 clubs were members but it was still the north east of the USA that dominated the sport.
In 1869, the first ever professional team was founded, the Cincinnati Red Stockings, and it is that year that the MLB recognises professional Baseball starting up in the US.
This period saw the first schism in the sport as the NAABBP remained amateur with the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players (NA) formed in 1871 to represent the growing professional game.
Both the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves were established during this era, with the National League of Professional Base Ball Clubs (known to most as the National league) was established to improve on the NA.
The first game of the NL took place in Philadelphia in April 1876, with many historians classing that as the true beginning of the current day MLB.
The early years of the NL saw a lot of clubs come and go and lots of infighting and only 4 clubs would make it to the turn of the 20th century, whilst a number of competing leagues would also come and go.
One of the most successful during the period was the America Association (1882-91) who would meet the winners of the National League in a postseason series which can be seen as the first attempt at a World Series.
The 2 leagues would merge in 1892 but with a number of teams dropping out, a new league was set up, with the American League forming in 1901 and starting a bidding war for players.
In 1902, the NL, AL and NA met to agree a new National Agreement and that led to the setting up of minor leagues, in the forerunner of today’s system.
The first superstars of the sport starting to develop in the 1900-1920 era of Baseball known as the dead-ball era due to the lack of hitting due to balls been used until they fell apart.
Pitchers to make a name during this period included Grover Cleveland Alexander and the iconic Cy Young.
The World Series was established in 1903 when the winners of the American League would face off against the winners of the National League and it was also during this era when the first big controversy hit the sport as the match between the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds saw allegations of game fixing.
The great depression hit the sport hard during the 1920’s and 30’s with even the biggest stars needing to take pay cuts but in the 1940’s, most clubs struggled to put teams out as players were sent to war.
The post war era started with Jackie Robinson been picked by the Brooklyn Dodgers and after spending time in Montreal, he would make his major league debut in April 1947.
Many players threatened to strike but they were threatened with suspensions and in the end he would go on to win the Rooke if the Year award and he would of course become one of the greatest stars and iconic players in the sports history.
3 months after that award, Larry Doby became the first black player to play in the American League and from their stars of the Negro leagues continued to step up and star in the NL and AL.
The 1950’s saw MLB not only expand in terms of the number of teams but also in terms of location as teams started to relocate from the east coast to the west coast with the Boston Braves becoming the Milwaukee Braves, the ST Luis Browns becoming the Baltimore Orioles, the Philadelphia Athletics becoming the Kansas City Athletics, the Brooklyn Dodger’s becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Giants becoming the San Francisco Giants.
New teams were also added including the Loss Angeles Angles and the Washington Senators joining the American League whilst the Houston Astros and the New York Mets joining the National League.
The late 1960’s and 70’s saw the spread of clubs to both the south of the country and to the north west, with the first Canadian franchise setting up in Montreal.
This era also saw the sport dominated by pitching once again and to try and increase scoring and excitement, it was in 1973 when the American League brought in the designated hitter (DH) rule.
That led to a lot of changes from the 1980’s onwards, which was also impacted by the first major strike which costs fans 713 games in 1981.
The 1994-95 seaosn saw the next major strike, which saw the cancellation of over 900 games and no post season action in 1994.
The 1990’s and early 2000’s saw record after record been broken by batters but it quickly became apparent that a number of players were using performance enhancing drugs and that means many batting stats are now featured alongside an *.
In 2005, the Montreal Expos became the first club in over 30 years to move when they not only left Montreal but they left Canada to take up residence in Washington DC.
In 2019, another major scandal hit the sport as the 2017 Houston Astros World Series win was overshadowed by allegations of stealing signs using technology throughout the 2017 and 18 seasons.
The Astros were found guilty but were let off incredibly lightly.
Streaks and Dominance By Teams
As is so often the case in ever top tier competition of a sport, a number of clubs have enjoyed dominant periods of success throughout the history of the MLB and it processors.
The first club to win back to back World Series were the Chicago Cubs who achieve that feat in 1907 to 1908, when they defeated the Detroit Tigers in both series.
That was also achieve by the Philadelphia Athletics (1910-11), Boston Red Sox (1915-16), New York Giants (1921-22), New York Yankees (1927-28) and the Philadelphia Athletics (1929-30) before the New York Yankees started to dominate in the 1930’s when they won an incredible 4 straight world series between 1936-39.
The Yankees when one better than that by winning 5 straight World Series between 1949-53 and that looks like a record that will not be broken as the full time professional and salary cap era makes it difficult for clubs to dominate.
