The United States Grand Prix has a long history going back to 1908 but it is a race that has struggled for longevity and for popularity in its home market.

After many years of suffering form an on off nature and a nomadic existence, which saw the race been held in 10 locations including a car park in Vegas, the race has now found a fantastic home at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

The track, which has hosted the USGP since 2012, has taken a number of features from tracks across the globe but it is the home straight and first corner which is what the track is known for.

With car approaching the corner at top speeds, the track steeply banks up hill to an almost 90 degree turn but with the track been wide enough for 4-5 cars, there is not only a great chance to overtake but there is a great chance of seeing wheel to wheel action.

The race has developed a decent following amongst American fans and with the Mexico border not far away, many make the trip to Austin to give a great atmosphere for the drivers to perform in.

From cars parks in Vegas to street races in Phoenix and from disasters at Indianapolis to fallen through opportunities at Daytona, the United States of America has continued to try and develop a home for it’s own Grand Prix and with the massive market the US offer manufacturers, the teams have tried there best to get a successful USA GP but things just never went well until a purpose built circuit was developed.

That track is the Circuit of the Americas and with the US now having a home for it’s Grand Prix, the USGP is a race that fans can get behind.

The track is never likely to have a wet race due it’s location but the great news is that the racing is often strong enough without that level of unpredictability.

There are lots of overtaking opportunities as well as tricky sections that make the drivers give there all.
