The Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, known also as the ATP Newport, is a professional tennis tournament that takes place on the men’s ATP Tour where it is a World Tour 250 Series ranked event.
The tournament takes place at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island in the United States of America. Despite been inaugurated way back in 1976, the tournament has often struggled to attract the very biggest names on the ATP due to its placing on the calendar just a week after the Wimbledon Championships.
That does often lead to some interesting match ups however with the competitors been made up of experienced players and young up and comers although the like most Lleyton Hewitt, Greg Rusedski and Mark Philippoussis have enjoyed success at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.
Throughout its history it has been American stars that have enjoyed the most success although in recent times Europeans have won the title more and more.
