Karen Khachanov vs Andrey Rublev
These two countrymen, friends and even doubles partners from time to time, including when they teamed up to the 2023 Madrid Open and even back to their junior days when they teamed up to win the doubles event at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, have lots of similarities aside from both been born in Moscow.
Both come from athletic families, with Khachanov father been a former volleyball player and Rublev’s dad been a former boxer whilst his mum was a tennis coach.
They also have a similar style of play, with both been baseliners and both loving to try to a wear down their opponents and wait for a mistake as much as they do love to go on the offensive and force things.
The biggest difference between the two players is when it comes to their patience as whilst Khachanov will happily paly the long game, Rublev can often try to force things and that can lead to him making silly mistakes- highlighted by his struggles with his 2nd serve.
With both playing a similar style coupled with the local bragging rights both are fighting over, and you have an incredible looking match up with all of the potential of been a match of the tournament contender.
Despite that, it will be the sort of match that goes under the radar, well outside of Russia anyway, but thankfully it now easy for fans to watch great matches such as this one by using one of the fantastic services found on this very page.

Why You Should Watch
If you are a Russian fan of the sport, you will want to watch as many of your countrymen as you can do but when they face off against each other, you will put in an extra effort to watch the action live.
Even if you are not a fan of tennis, you will want to watch to cheer on your fellow countrymen but after a game like this one, you may become a fan!
You don’t need to be from Russia yourself to be a fan of either of these two players of course and if you are a fan of theirs, you will also want to watch as many of their matches as you can do but again, that can be tricky for fans of a sport such as tennis where tournaments take place across the globe, all year around and at all times of the day.
This is also a great match up for more general fans of the sport, who just love to be entertained whilst watching tennis and that is just what you should get from this one.
The similar playing styles coupled with the nationalistic pride means that this should be a tight match where the result is in doubt throughout no matter what stage of the tournament it takes place and what level the tournament is at.
Lastly, all of those reason above make this an ideal match up for those who are new to the sport and who want to see what tennis is all about or if you are a lapsed fan who want to see what the level of the sport is in the current era as this is a no frills match, with no superstar player that will let you experience a more ‘pure’ form of the sport.
Where You Can Watch
For those who have been a fan of the sport for any length of time, you will know all too well just how difficult and frustrating it can be to watch the matches that you want to watch live on television across the UK as even if you have an expensive and ongoing subscription to a pay tv sports network that has the rights to broadcast the tournament these two are set to face off at, you still may not get to watch it live.
There can be a few different reasons for that including the fact that a matchup such as this one will just simply not be chosen for live broadcast, with a match featuring a bigger star or homegrown player getting chosen instead.
The way that tennis tournaments are set up, where there is more often than not more than 1 match taking place at the same time, from the same complex, means that broadcasters have to choose between different matches and again, one such as this one may get overlooked.
Another issue is with tennis matches and the way that they don’t usually have a set start time and never have a set tend time which means it is hard for broadcasters to set their schedules.
That can see the match start earlier than expected leading to the broadcaster staying with the match that they are showing already, or it could start much later than expected, leading to the channel staying the match they have been showing.
Worse of all, a matchup such as this one, that goes under the radar, can be moved courts to help fit it in the schedules and that can mean the court hasn’t been set up for television coverage, so it will not be shown.
Thankfully, there is now an easy way for fans to be able to pick and choose to watch the matches that they want to watch no matter when the match occurs and on what court and that is by using one of the great services found below.
Each service allows you to watch live tennis, with the best ones brining you live action all season long and from the opening match of the smallest event played in front of handful of people to the final of the biggest Grand Slams played in front of 10’s of thousands.
All that you need to do is choose the service that works the best for you and that offers you more of what you want to see, although don’t forget, you can use all of these services to watch as much as you can.
