British Basketball League Championship

Predominately an English League the competition also features Scottish teams. Currently there are 13 teams, who are all franchises which means that whilst there is no promotion or relegation from and to the BBL, teams can put forward a business plan in the hopes of gaining a franchise in the UK top division of Basketball action.

The BBL was established in 1987 and currently each team plays a 36-game season which takes place between September April with the top of the league side at the end of the regular table crowned League Champions.

From there the top 8 placed teams compete in a playoff system to crown the overall winner of the BBL Championship.

The current teams to play in the British Basketball Championship are the Bristol Flyers, the Cheshire Phoenix, the Glasgow Rocks, the Leeds Force, the Leicester Riders, the London Lions, the Manchester Giants, the Newcastle Eagles, the Plymouth Raiders, the Sheffield Sharks, the Surrey Scorchers and the Worcester Wolves.
