Their home ground is the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio (also known as the Estadio Antonio Vespucio Liberti, the River Plate Stadium, Monumental de Nunez or simply as the El Monumental), is capable of holding over 70,000 fans and is known for its incredible atmosphere, especially for big matches such as continental game sand derby matches against Boca.

Their matches against Boca Juniors are some of the biggest club matches in world football with the rivalry between the 2 sides been about so much more than football. The 2 clubs were both established in the Boca region of Buenos Aires, with Boca taking most of their fans from the working class residents and with River taking their fans from more upper class and middle class parts of town.
