History
West Ham were first established in 1895 as the Thames Ironworks before been reformed in 1900 as West Ham United.
The club started life in local leagues before joining the football league in 1919. They quickly moved up to the first division and form there on in they have established themselves as a top club in the English footballing pyramid.
The cub have enjoyed periods of success and during the 1960’s and 70’s they featured many household names including Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters, and Bobby Moore- all of whom helped England to win the World Cup in 1966.
Although the club have never won a topflight title, they have won the 2nd tier title as well as the FA Cup, League Cup, and the Charity Shield.
They have also enjoyed success in European football by picking up the European Cup Winners Cup in 1964-65 and the Intertoto Cup in 1999.
