Watch Montreal Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix is raced around the public streets of Notre Dame Island in Montreal on a track known as the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve- named after the famous Canadian driver that did so much for showcasing the sport in Canada and across North America.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a course full of contrasts due to the unique nature of the course. The track features tight and technical section and long straights that are raced at full speed.

Some parts see’s the car get to within millimetres of course side walls, with the iconic ‘Wall of Champions’ seeing cars touch the concrete wall time after time, whilst some sections feature long run off areas and escape routes.

You also have the problems of racing on public roads, complete with paint and bumps but then you have sections that see next to no action all year and feature permanent ‘furniture’ of an F1 track.

What Can We Watch?

You can watch all of the key action from each and every race weekend including all 3 practise sessions, qualifying and of course the actual race itself live.

Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix has been raced at the current Circuit Gilles Villeneuve venue ever since 1978 but the race itself can be dated back to 1961 when it was first staged as a sports car event at Mosport Park.

The race joined the Formula 1 Championship in 1967, with racing initially taking place at both Mosport Park and the Circuit Mont-Tremlant. Safety concerns at the 2 tracks led to the race moving to Montreal and to its current home.

The current grand prix is now one of the favourites of fans and drivers alike as it features a good test of the drivers ability and a good test of the teams ability to set up a car that is great through slow corners but that can also carry the speed needed for the long straights.

From the fans point of view the Canadian GP often leads to great action and unpredictability that makes it a must watch.
