Serbian Open Event Tennis

The Serbian Open is both a new and an established event on the men’s ATP Tour after it was first established in 2019 at the SRPC Milan Gale Mustatirovic tennis centre in the Serbian capital city of Belgrade.

Unfortunately, the initial tournament struggled to establish itself on the tour as the event was replaced on the ATP Tour by the Power Horse Cup in Dusseldorf.

Thankfully for fans of the sport and especially for those with links to Serbia, the tournament returned to the men’s ATP Tour in 2021, when it replaced the Hungarian Open on the tour.

The tournament was first established in 2009 after the company Family Sport, owned and run by the Serbian number 1 Novak Djokovic and his family, bought the ATP Tour rights to the Dutch Open and moved the event to the Serbian capital.

The Djokovic family received support from the Serbian government to run a professional tennis tournament in the country and with Goran Djokovic, Novak’s uncle, put in place as the tournament director, it was perhaps no real shock to not only see Novak Djokovic play at the new tournament but to go on and win the inaugural titles in Belgrade after defeating Lukasz Kubot in the first final.

The current Belgrade event is an ATP World Tour 250 Series level event where all of the action takes place at the Novak Tennis Center with the matches been played on outdoor clay courts which all can be watched live online via the streaming services found on this page.

ATP Belgrade

The Serbian Open, also known simply as the ATP Belgrade, is a professional tennis tournament that upon its establishment in 2009, it became the first ever professional tennis tournament on either the WTA Tour or the ATP Tour to be held in the country of Serbia.

The tournament, owned and run by the Djokovic family, is back from the abyss in part thanks to the huge popularity of Novak Djokovic across the country and hopefully the Serbian Open can now establish itself on the tour and help inspires the next generation of Serbian tennis stars.

In the initial running of the tournament, it was home favourite and tournament owner Novak Djokovic who won the first ever title, which is a feat that he also achieved in the 2011 final when he defeated Feliciano Lopez in the final.

Sam Querrey won the 2010 final against fellow American player John Isner whilst the other final to take place before the tournaments finishing was Andreas Seppi of Italy who defeated Benoit Paire of France.

As you can see form the list of names above, the majority of the players to not only play at the tournament but to excel are clay court specialists and that makes for an exciting and entertaining event that we are sure will continue.

As is the case for the majority of tennis events held on the ATP Tour, the ATP Belgrade also features a doubles event alongside the singles event.

The doubles side of the draw features a mix of singles stars who are playing both sides of the draw and doubles specialists and the great news for all tennis fans is that all of the doubles great action can be watched live online alongside the singles event.

The inaugural doubles winners were the all-Austrian duo of Oliver Marach and Lukasz Kubot, who got his revenge after losing the singles final to pick up the doubles tournaments title in a final against Johan Brunstrom of Sweden and his partner Jean-Julien Roger of Curacao in the Netherland Antilles.

The 2022 edition saw Andrey Rublev of Russia defeat Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the final in an event that saw most players avoid due to issues with the host family.

Watch Serbia Open Tennis Live

If you are a fan of tennis, you will likely know that it can be a frustrating experience trying to watch tournaments such as this one live on British television as even if you have an expensive and ongoing subscription to a pay tv sports channel ,you will only likely be able to watch a select number of matches form the event.

That often leads to fans missing out on their favourite player or on the match up they were looking forward to watching the most but you can now pick and choose to watch the action that you want to watch.

All of the great live streaming services featured on this page allow you to watch tennis live from Serbian but if you do decide to watch live via the streaming services of the online bookmakers that we feature you will need to be aged 18 or over and have a funded account but you can then watch tennis live not just from Belgrade but from tennis tournaments held all season long, across the globe, from both the ATP Tour and the WTA Tour.
