Watch Swiss Open Tennis
The Swiss Open is a professional tennis tournament that takes place on the men’s ATP World Tour where it is a World Tour 250 Series ranked event.
Held in the city of Gstaad in Switzerland at the Roy Emerson Arena, the Swiss Open has a long history going back to 1915 when the event was inaugurated.
Matches at the tournament are held on outdoor clay courts where at 1,050 metres above sea level, the tournament is the highest to be played on the ATP Tour in Europe.
The event attracts a good mixture of both top 10 ranked stars and top 100 ranked players, with those players who are a specialist on clay courts doing particularly well at the Swiss Open which has given us lots of shocks down the years.
As well as been the highest tournament in Europe, the Swiss Open also has the interesting fact of been one of the last tournaments, not just in Europe but in the world, outside of the 4 Grand Slams to play 5 set matches.
That came to an end in 2006, with the incredible 2003 final between Kiri Novak and local favourite and world superstar, Roger Federer been the last final to go all of the way into a 5th set.
On that occasion it was the Czech star Novak who went on to win the match and the title in a major upset by eventually winning the match 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, 1-6, 6-6.
Whilst you may not get epic 5 set matches nowadays that are as much a mental and physical challenge as they are about the skill and commitment of players, that does not take away from the great action that you can watch from Gstaad.
After all, clay court tennis is all finesse, spin and skill and there is plenty of that in show during every match at the Swiss Open and thanks to the incredible Swiss Open live stream services that we feature on this very page, you need never miss any of the action again.

ATP Gstaad
The ATP Gstaad is one of the most historic tennis tournaments still on the tour after ben formed in 1898 so it will come as no surprise that the tournament has gone through lots of changes down the years.
As well as moving location from the Gstaad Palace Hotel (known at the time as the Royal Hotel), the action now takes place at the compact Roy Emerson Arena, named after the Australian star who dominated the event in the 1960’s.
Between 1990-1997, the Swiss Open was an ATP World Series level event before becoming an ATP International Series event between 1998-2008. In 2009, the tournament became an ATP World Tour 250 Series level event, which is the ranking it has kept to this very day.
With one of the lowest rankings on the tour and a relatively small prize fund on offer, the tour does struggle to attract the biggest names in the sport but with a great location in the resort town of Gstaad, the event does attract many leading clay court specialists and that can lead to lots of high quality and ultra-competitive action, which you can watch live online via the ATP Gstaad live stream services featured on this very page.
Whilst local stars dominated things in the early years and the aforementioned Roy Emerson dominating the early years of the open era, the last couple of decades has seen players from across Europe dominating things with Spanish players enjoying lots of success.
Amongst the big names to win in Gstaad in the ATP era are Albert Costa (Spain), Alex Corretja (Spain), Jiri Novak (Czech Republic), Roger Federer (Switzerland), Richard Gasquet (France), Thomaz Bellucci (Brazil), Dominic Thiem (Austria), Feliciano Lopez (Spain), Fabio Fognini (Italy) and Albert Ramos Vinolas (Spain).
As with the majority of tennis tournaments on the ATP Tour, the ATP Gstaad also features a doubles events along side the singles event that features a good mix of both doubles specialists and singles players who are pulling double duty and playing on both sides of the tournament.
The event didn’t take place in 2020, which was the first time it didn’t happen in over 100 years but upon its return, the event has been dominated by Norwegian star Casper Ruud who defeated Hugo Gaston for the 2021 title and Matteo Berrettini for the 2022 title.
