The impressive Zayed Sports City International Tennis Centre is the host venue for and what an impressive complex it is.

Apart from a large tennis stadium and multiple tournament level outer courts, the sporting complex features many football fields, a large football stadium, a snooker centre, gyms and much more all within a stones through of the centre of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and all next to the coast.

WTA Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Open maybe a brand new tournament on the women’s WTA Tour having only been established in 2021, but the tournament got off to a great start when it attracted lots of top 10 ranked stars and a top 16 field of players ranked 33 or less in the world.

With such a high quality playing field at the tournament, attracted by large ranking points, a big prize fund and a great venue, we are sure that the tournament will find its feet and really establish itself on the tour and that it will become a must watch for tennis fans.

The Abu Dhabi International Tennis Centre at the Zayed Sports City is the host venue for the tournament and features a number of tournament standard courts including court 2, which has seating for around 600 spectators and the main centre courts which feature a large oval stadium capable of hosting around 5,000 fans.

That makes sure that the event has a good atmosphere as both about the right size for a tournament such as this one.

It was the main stadium in Abu Dhabi hosted most of the biggest matches from the inaugural event including the final which was won by Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus who defeated Veronika Kudermetova of Russia in the final.

To give you an insight into the standard of the playing field at the tournament, the seeded players at the inaugural edition of the tournament were Sofia Kenin (of the United States who was the number 1 seed), Elina Svitolina (Ukraine), Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic), Garbine Muguruza (Spain), Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan), Marketa Vondrousova (Czech Republic), Maria Sakkari (Greece), Anett Kontaveit (Estonia), Jennifer Brady (United States), Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic), Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan), Ons Jabeur (Tunisia), Donna Vekic (Croatia), Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) and of course the winner Aryna Sabalenka.

As with the majority of tennis tournaments held on the WTA Tour, the WTA Abu Dhabi also features a doubles event, which can also be watched live.

The inaugural final of the doubles side of the event was won by the Japanese duo of Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara who defeated Hayley Carter (United States) and Luisa Stefani (Brazil) to pick up the title.

If you area fan of tennis, you will likely know that it can be difficult to watch tournament such as this one on British tv as even if you have an expensive and ongoing subscription to pay tv sports channel that features tennis coverage, you will only likely get a select number of matches shown.

That can lead to fans missing out on watching their favourite player or on watching the match up that you want to watch the most but thankfully there is anow a way to watch the action that you want to watch.
