WT Tianjin

The Tianjin Open, also known as the WTA Tianjin, is a professional tennis tournament that takes place on the women’s WTA Tour where it is an International level event.

The city is hosted by the Tianjin International Tennis Center in the city of Tianjin, where the tennis complex is headline by the main stadium court that is capable of hosted around 3,500 fans.

Tianjin, located on the shore of the Bohai Sea in northern China, is one of the largest and most important cities in China.

Sometimes known by its Romanised name of Tientsin, the city is one of the nine national central cities of China that act as the main cultural, academic, sporting, and financial centres of the region they are located in and it is also the largest city in the region in terms of population.

With all of that in mind, the city is a great location for a tournament at this level and thanks to offering a relatively good prize fund, the event attracts bigger stars than many other events of the same ranking.

The best run at the tournament for a British star came in 2019 when Heather Watson lost in the final to Rebeca Peterson of Sweden.
