Rivalry

History
The first ever home match in the Madrid derby to be hosted by Real came in the 1928-29 and it was the very first match between the 2 arch-rivals in a game that Real would come away with the win by 2 goals to 1.
Although there was a break in matches during 1930-34, due to Atletico been relegated, and between 1936-39, due to the Spanish Civil War, Real would go on a great run of home matches which only ended in the 1940-41 season when Atletico picked up their first ever win at the Bernabeu by 1 goal to 3.
The first ever draw between the 2 sides in a match hosted by Real came in the 1947-48 season when the sides battled to a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu.
Los Blanco’s next run of home wins came between 1952-1955, when they won 4 straight home matches, but it would take until the 1990’s for them to match that run.
The new millennium started with the white side of the city dominating things after Atletico would start the first 2 seasons of the 2000’s in the 2nd tier.
Upon their return, Real would stay undefeated until the 2013-14 season in a run that would see just 5 draws but 4 of them coming in matches hosted by Real.
Real did finish that run with 4 straight home wins but the run also came crashing to an end with Atletico picking up a shock 0-1 win in the 2013-14 season.
That would start a run of 4 straight losses for the whites at home but they would then go on a run of almost a decade of been undefeated at home.
