Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers, known better as Wolves, are one of the oldest professional football clubs in the world and whilst they have had their ups and downs over the years, Wolverhampton have remained one of the biggest clubs from the Midlands.

Wolves have also developed a huge fanbase, so it is no surprise that whenever they play live on television, there are lots of fans looking to watch along live and the great news for fans is that it has never been easier to watch Wolverhampton matches live online with many Wolves tv matches live streamed via the streaming services featured on this page.

Location

The Wanderers are based in the West Midlands city of Wolverhampton.

Stadium

Wolves have played at their Molineux Stadium home ground since 1889 but the ground is unrecognisable from those early days and is now a mix of the new and old, with ongoing redevelopment work sitting alongside existing stands.

Despite the changes, the ground has manged to keep the great atmosphere that it is famed for and with the bright orange seats throughout the stands, the ground is easily recognisable as the home of the Wanderers.

Rivals

With a number of historic football clubs with huge fanbases all based in the relatively small area of the Midlands, it is no surprise that Wolves have a number of rivalries including against Aston Villa and Birmingham City.

Smaller rivalries are shared with the likes of Walsall, Shrewsbury Town, and Stoke City but if you were to ask any fan of Wolves who their rivals are, there would only be one name given and that is West Bromwich Albion.

Matches between the 2 are known as the Black Country Derby and guarantee a huge crowd and an electric atmosphere whenever they play at Molineux.

Colours / Playing Kit

When the cub first started up, they played in an Atletico Madrid like playing strip with and red and white striped shirt, blue shorts, and socks but it is of course the gold shirts and black shorts of modern days that the club are famed for and what makes them easy to recognise out on the field.

This colour scheme was adopted from the local councils motto of ‘out of darkness cometh light’, with gold representing light and black representing dark.

History

Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club were established in 1877 when they were known as St Luke’s FC. The club went onto become one of the founding members of Football League in 1888 and since then they have gone onto established themselves as one of the top clubs in the English leagues with much of their history seeing them playing in the top 2 divisions.

It will come as no surprise that they have picked up lots of titles and trophies along the way, both domestically and in Europe.

Wolves have won the topflight title on 3 occasions as well as picking up titles in the 2nd tier, the 3rd tier, and the 4th tier.

In cup competitions, they have a number of wins in the FA Cup, in the League Cup and they have also won the Charity Shield.

In European action, they were runners up in the 1971-72 UEFA Cup.
