The Paris Masters is a professional tennis tournament which is part of the men’s ATP Tour where it is a ATP World Tour Masters series ranked event which is just 1 level below Grand Slam, making the tournament one of the biggest in the world.
The Paris Masters, also known as the BNP Paribas Masters 1000 and the Paris Indoor event, is the last tournament of the season for many players with only the season ending World Tour Finals coming after it on the calendar.
With the race to those World Tour Finals often coming down to this event, it is one of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments on the ATP calendar and one of the most keenly fought tournament’s.
The ATP Paris is held at the AccorHotels Arena (formerly known as the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy and also known as the Bercy Arena) in the Parisian suburb of Bercy in the French capital.
The arena is home to many sporting events and for the Pairs Masters it is capable of holding 15,603 fans with many of the main matches full to capacity with the Paris Master Final always a must attend occasion for locals.
The venue first opened in 1984 but recently undertook a major renovation to prove the tournament a truly world class venue for the word class action on the court.
As a Masters 1000 level even ton the ATP Tour, the Paris Masters is one of the biggest events on the tour. Around the turn of the millennium, Britain enjoyed some success with Greg Rusedski winning in 1998 and Tim Henman winning in 2003.
The giants of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Britain’s Andy Murray all enjoyed success between 2009 to 2021 whilst Holger Rune pulled off a huge shock win against Djokovic in the 2022 final for his first ever win.
