WTA Elite Trophy Tennis
The WTA Elite Trophy is a professional tennis tournament on the women’s WTA Tour and the great news for fans is that you can watch all of the action live online via our tennis live stream partners.
The tournament is different from most other tournaments as it is an invitation only event with the field consisting mostly of the best ranked players to have not qualified for the end of season WTA Finals.
The tournament features 12 players, who are split into four groups of three to play in a round robin style first stage.
The winner of each group moves into the semi-final with these winner of those games meeting in the final to determine the WTA Elite Trophy winner.
The tournament was established in 2015 and currently takes place at the Hengqin International Tennis Center in the Chinese city of Zhuhai where all of the matches take place on outdoor hard courts.

Tennis Elite Trophy
The WTA Elite Trophy is a tournament that lives up to its name as it features the best of the best from the Women’s WTA Tour battling it out of fame and fortune as not only does the winner get the WTA Elite Trophy title but she also receives one of the largest winners cheques.
As with most events, the tournament is slit into 2 sections, a doubles event, and a singles event with both sides of the draw featuring many of the top ranked players come the end of the season, alongside 1 wildcard.
That makes every match up from the tournament a must watch for tennis fans and the great news is that it has never been easier to do so.
The event was first established back in 2015 and since then every edition has been hosted at the Hengqin Tennis Center in the city of Zhuhai in China.
The first edition of the tournament highlighted the quality of the field at the event as Venus Williams, of the United States of America, defeated Karolina Pliskova, of the Czech Republic, to pick up the inaugural title.
The 2016 edition saw Petra Kvitova, of the Czech Republic, defeat Elina Svitolina, of the Ukraine, in the final to pick up the title.
Julia Gorges of Germany defeated Coco Vandeweghe of the United States in the final of the 2017 edition before home fans had something to cheer in the 2018 edition.
Unfortunately for those in attendance, local star Wang Qiang came up just short as she lost the final to Ashleigh Barty of Australia in straight sets.
Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus won the 2019 tournament after defeating Kiki Bertens, of The Netherlands, in the final.
The doubles event at the tournament has been dominated down the years by stars from China, with the first 3 finals featuring Chinese winners and the 2017 edition of the event featured an all Chinese final.
It was the all-Chinese duo of Liang Chen and Wang Yafan who picked up the inaugural doubles title at the tournament when they defeated the all-Spanish duo of Anabel Medina Garrigues and Arantxa Parra Santonja in the 2015 final.
The 2016 edition was won by the pairing of Ipek Soylu of Turkey and Xu Yifan of China before the all-Chinese duo of Duan Yingying and Han Xinyun won the 2017 final against the pairing of Lu Jingjing and Zhang Shuai, also of China.
From there on it has been European stars to enjoy the winning experience at the tournament with Lyudmyla Kichenok of the Ukraine winning both the 2018 and 2019 finals.
In 2018 she teamed up with Nadiia Kichenok, also of the Ukraine and in 2019 she teamed up with Andreja Klepac of Slovakia to win the event.
