Knights vs Warriors

The York Knights welcome the giants of the Wigan Warriors from Greater Manchester to North Yorkshire for a fascinating looking match up.

The Knights have endured a tricky time during the summer era of the sport as they have not only spent the majority of it outside of the topflight, but they have just struggled to survive for much of it.

More recently, they have improved there facilites, established off of the field and have found success on it to where they have now reached the Super League.

The next challenge for the hosts is to establish themselves in the topflight and prove that they belong there.

What better way to do that than to take on one of the biggest clubs in the world and come away with the win?

That is the opportunity that is on offer for the Knights as the Warriors are arguably the biggest name in the UK and they are a club who have remained at the very top of the sport during the summer era and have won all that there is to win domestically and globally throughout this period of the sport.

The draw of the Warriors should see a bumper crowd in attendance and should also prove great motivation for the hosts to give that extra 10% of effort and whilst it will likely still not be enough, it will make for a great match.

Stadium

The action takes place at the impressive York Community Stadium, which is a modern all-seater stadium located on the outskirts of the city centre of York.

As one of the UK’s leading tourist cities, there will likely be a large away following making a weekend of it from Wigan, especially with the stadium been located on the Monks Cross shopping and entertainment complex which also includes large park and ride making it easy for fans to get in and out of the historic centre.

The stadium is made up of four separate stands, with three of them been relatively small but with low roofs, they do help create a great atmosphere at the ground.

The final stand is the ground main stand, or grandstand, that is much larger than the others and it also features all of the corporate and media facilities.

Despite been one of the smaller stadiums in the Super League, it can on its day offer one of the best atmosphere and with the bumper away following from the North-West of England, that should be the case for this one.

Why You Should Watch

If you are a fan of either the Knights or the Warriors, you will likely want to watch as many matches featuring your favourite club as you can and this match will likely grab the attention of both fanbases.

For fans of the Knights, this is a glamourous tie against one of the giants of the sport and that will make you want to watch to see if your side can pull of a big shock result whilst for fans of the Warriors, this is the sort of match that you will be expecting your club to win, so you will want to watch to enjoy seeing the skills of your big name players.

The top versus bottom nature of the match will also mean there will be fans of numerous other cubs who will want to tune in to watch as it will likely have a big impact on a number of clubs and if yours is one of those, you will want to see what the impact on your own club will be as it unfolds.

The potential giant killing nature of the match also makes it a great game for neutrals to tune in and watch as no matter what happens, it will likely be an entertaining 80 minutes of action one way or the other and that is all you want as a neutral.

For those who are new to the 13 aside code of Rugby, this is a great match to start with as you will see some of the sports top stars get pushed by an underdog side in the same nature as a giant of the Premier League taking on a lower level club in the FA Cup and that is always the best type of match to watch for those not following either of the sides involved.

Where You Can Watch

If you have been a fan of the sport for any length of time, you will know just how frustrating it has been up until recently it was to watch a match up that you wanted to watch live.

Even if you had an expensive and ongoing subscription to a pay tv sports network that had the rights to broadcast the match that you wanted to watch live, the chances were that you would tune in and still not be able to watch the match that you were wanting to watch.

There were a few different reasons for that with the main issue been that only a select number of matches been shown from each round of action.

Thankfully those days are now in the past and fans can easily pick and choose to watch the matches that they want to watch as every match is shown live.

Each of the providers on this page bring you live Rugby League action so all that you need to do is choose the service, or services that works the best for you and that offer more of what you want to watch.
