The UK Championship is the 2nd biggest ranking tournament on the Snooker Tour, behind the World Championship and it makes up 1 third of the Triple Crown.
The tournament has one of the longest histories of any Snooker event as it can trace its roots back to 1977 when the tournament was first held at the Tower Circus in Blackpool, when the event was known as the United Kingdom Professional Snooker Championship.
The Championship then moved down the road to Preston where the event became a ranking event and was played at the Preston Guild Hall until 1997/98.
The tournament then had a short lived move to the Bournemouth International Centre before moving to Barbican Centre in York.
Another short lived move saw the event held in Telford before moving back to the Barbican for the 2011/12 season where the tournament has taken place ever since and it really has now found its spiritual home.
The UK Championship is one of the biggest Snooker tournaments so all of the world’s top stars are in attendance and that makes it simply a must watch for all Snooker fans and the great news is that it has never been simpler to watch each and every match up from the UK Championship live online.

UK Championship Snooker
The UK Championship is one of the biggest Snooker tournaments in the world and as part of the Triple Crown, along with the World Championship and the Masters, it is one of the most prestigious.
With that in mind it is no surprise that the tournament features the best of the best and it is an event that is a must watch for all Snooker fans.
The great is that it has never been easier to do just that with all of the action available to watch live online via the great Snooker live stream services featured on this page.
Inaugurated in 1977 and having its spiritual home at the Barbican Centre in York, the tournament has had a long history full of great moments but it has also been a history of change.
The first event was held in the iconic Tower Circus in Blackpool when it was known as the United Kingdom Professional Snooker Championship and it was only open to residents of Britain or UK passport holders.
Patsy Fagan of Ireland won the first title against Doug Mountjoy.
The next year, the event moved to the Guild Hall in Preston which was where the tournament remained until 1997.
In 1984, the tournament was opened up to all professionals depending on ranking position and ranking points were given out for the first time. That helped take the tournament from a local event to a global event and to one of the biggest and best tournaments on the Snooker calendar.
The event had a short trip from the North of England to the South Coast after leaving Preston for the Bournemouth International Centre in Dorset before moving to the perfectly sized Barbican Centre in 2001.
It was only a relatively short stay however as the event moved to Telford in 2007 but it soon found it way back to Yorkshire from 2011 onwards.
As you would expect from one of the biggest tournaments in Snooker, the event attracts all of the biggest stars and offers some of the best Snooker of the whole season.
Despite that, it can be a frustrating experience for fans to watch the action live from the event with some sessions not shown at all and some matches not featured but thankfully you can now watch the action that you want to watch via the great live streaming services featured on this page.

Amongst the stars to have won the tournament in the ranking era are Steve Davis (England), Doug Mountjoy (Wales), Stephen Hendry (Scotland), John Parrott (England), Jimmy White (England), Ronnie O’Sullivan (England), John Higgins (Scotland), Mark Williams (Wales), Matthew Stevens (Wales), Stephen Maguire (Scotland), Ding Junhui (China), Judd Trump (England), Mark Selby (England) and Neil Robertson (Australia).
Whilst English players have been the most dominant throughout the years at the UK Championship despite strong challengers from Scottish and Welsh stars, the ever increasing challenge from players from across the world, especially from China, has not only led to a much more diverse line-up but also it has led to a much more competitive event.
That has led to no period of domination for any single player, as is the case with many other tournaments and that unpredictability, when mixed with the prestige of the tournament and the quality of the players in attendance make for an event that is simply a must watch for all Snooker fans and thankfully that has never been easier thanks to the incredible UK Championship Snooker live stream services featured on this page.
