Abierto Los Cabos

The Los Cabos Open, known locally as the Abierto Los Cabos, may be a relatively new tournament but it has already managed to give us tennis fans some great action and it has managed to attract some big stars to the resort town of Los Cabos.

The resort is located on the southern tip of the famous Baja California Peninsula in the state of Baja California Sur in Mexico.

The region is known for its luxury hotel resorts, championship golf courses and beautiful beaches but when the Los Cabos Open is on, all eyes turn to tennis and to the great action out on the court.

Thankfully, it is not just for those in attendance to enjoy as you can watch all of the fantastic tennis on offer in Mexico live online via the tennis live stream services featured on this page.

The action take place at the Delmar International School with matches been played on hard court, which helps the tournament act as a warm up to the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the season and that in turn helps it to attract bigger stars than you would expect from a tournament with a relatively low ranking of been an ATP World Tour Series 250 ranked event.

The tournament does have a decent prize fund and with its great location for players to relax in the sun outside of their playing commitments, it is no surprise that the players head across the border from the tournaments played in the USA as part of the US Open hard court season.

The inaugural tournament took place in 2016, with the final seeing an all European match up between the winner Ivo Karlovic from Croatia and the runner up, Feliciano Lopez of Spain.
The quality of any tournament can be difficult to judge outside of the Gran Slams and the Masters Series events as the line up changes from one year to the next but one way to get a good overall view of a tournament is by looking at the players who have gone on to win the evet or to make it through to the final.

As well as the above mentioned players from the first edition of the Los Cabos Open, other players to make it through to the final including the likes of Sam Querrey (the United States of America), Juan Martin del Potro (Argentina), Diego Schwartzman (Argentina) and Taylor Fritz (the United States of America).

As with the majority of tennis tournaments held as part of the men’s ATP World Tour and the great news for fans is that you can also watch this great action live from Los Cabos.

The doubles event features a mix of doubles specialists as well as singles stars pulling double duty and it has been in this side of the raw that British stars have enjoyed the most success to date.

After not taking place in 2020, the return of the tournament saw British success as it was Cameron Norrie who won the title after defeating Brandon Nakashima in the final.

The Brit made it through to the 2022 final as well but he came up short against Daniil Medvedev.

In the inaugural doubles final, held in 2016, Britain’s Ken Skupski lost in the final alongside partners Johnathan Erlich (Israel) against the Indian duo of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan.
In 2019, Britain had another finalist as Dominic Inglot was the runner up alongside Austin Krajicek of the US. They lost to French / Monaco duo Romain Arnedo and Hugo Nys.
