The early life of Cam Norrie was somewhat a nomadic one as he was born in the South African city of Johannesburg before moving to Auckland in New Zealand, where he developed a love for tennis and began to play on the junior circuits but it was when his he switched his allegiance to Great Britain, thanks to a Scottish father and Welsh mother, that he turned pro and really started to develop a name for himself on the tennis circuit.

As a junior and whilst still representing his adapted homeland of New Zealand, he reached the top 10 ranked juniors in the world.

In 2013, he played at all 4 of the junior Grand Slams but interestingly he represented New Zealand and the Australian Open before playing under the Great British banner for the French Open, Wimbledon Championships and the US Open.

Despite featuring at all of the big events, the junior tour was a struggle for the young Norrie who made the move to the US and to play in the Collegiate system where he represented the Texas Christina University’s Horned Frogs team and was named an all-American three times.

It did not take long for him to realise that the professional tour was the place to be and he left his studies to make the step up to the pro ranks of tennis in 2017.

In 2013, he made his pro debut at the Auckland Open before dropping down to the futures tour for much of the next couple of years before stepping up to Challenger level.

The slow rise of Norrie continued by accepting a wildcard into the 2017 Queens Club tournament in London which was his first ATP Tour level event.

He also received a wildcard for Wimbledon and reached the first round of the US Open to cap a solid year.

It was therefore no surprise to see him continue to improve and to reach the top 100 in 2018, a year that also saw him win his first ATP title when he won the doubles event at the Estoril Open alongside fellow South African born British star, Kyle Edmund.

Over the past few years, he has continued to improve and is now a player capable of making life difficult for the top stars and taking on and defeating all over and we are sure that he will become a regular title winner over the next few seasons.
