The Dubai Tennis Championships, also known as the ATP Dubai and WTA Dubai, is a professional tennis tournament that features on both the men’s ATP Tour and the women’s WTA Tour.
On the men’s tour the event is a ATP World Tour 500 Series ranked event whilst for the women it is a WTA Premier level event.
The tournament has a history going back to 1993 but even before the 1990’s an annual Dubai Tennis Tournament was played at the British Embassy in Dubai.
Back in 1993, the tournament featured the men’s tour only when Karel Novacek, then ranked number 23 in the world picked up the first ever title whilst the women’s; event was first played in 2001 when Martina Hingis picked up the first ever title.
Since it’s inauguration the event has gone from strength to strength with its new higher ranking coming in 2001.
Matches are played on outdoor hard courts at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre in the Emirate of Dubai.
With bit ranking points on offer on both sides of the draw and a huge prize fund for both men and women, the Dubai Tennis Championships is able to entice many of the world’s biggest stars to take place.
In recent years the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have all won the ATP Dubai crown whilst the likes of Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina, Venus Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska have all won the WTA Dubai title.
With so much talent on display it is a real shame that the action can be hard to watch on tv, especially without an expensive subscription to a pay TV channel but the good news for fans is that you can watch all of the action from both the ATP Dubai and WTA Dubai tournament online via our Dubai Tennis Championships live streaming partners.
WTA Dubai
The WTA Dubai was one of the first in the world to offer equal prize money for men and women and that has really helped to develop the women’s side of the draw become a must watch tournament and one of the leading women’s events outside of the Grand Slams.
Ranking wise, the WTA Dubai has flipped between been a Premier 5 level tournament and a Premier level tournament but that hasn’t led to much fluctuation in the money on offer so the quality has remained high which can be seen in the list of the some of the past winners of the Dubai Tennis Championships including the likes of Martini Hingis, who won the inaugural event in 2001, Amelie Mauresmo (France), Justine Henin (Belgium), Lindsay Davenport (The United States of America), Elena Dementieva (Russia), Venus Williams (the United States of America), Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark), Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic), Simona Halep (Romania), Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) and Belinda Bencic (Switzerland).
As with the majority of WTA Tour level tournaments, the women’s Dubai Tennis Championships also features a double event alongside the singles event, and this attracts a good range of both double specialist teams and also stars of the singles event who pull double duty.
In the 2022 edition of the women’s event, it was a return to form for Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia who picked up the singles title whilst the doubles side of the event was won by Veronika Kudermetova of Russia and Elise Mertens of Belgium.
That doubles win was a quick turnaround for the young Russian as it was Kudermetova who lost in the singles final.
The great news for all tennis fans is that you can watch all of the action from the WTA Dubai, including all singles and all doubles matches, live online via the tennis live streaming services featured on this page.

ATP Dubai
The ATP Dubai has developed from relatively lowly beginnings to become one of the standout tournaments aside from the Grand Slam majors to one of the biggest events in the early part of the season and certainly one of the biggest v sin the Middle East.
The ATP Dubai offers lots of ranking points and a large prize fund and when you add in the good weather when many parts of the key tennis regions are still in winter and you have the perfect setting for some great entertainment.
The quality of an event can often be seen in those who have won it and just as in the women’s side of the draw, the men’s Dubai Tennis Championships winners list include many household names including the likes of Karel Novacek, who own the inaugural event in 1993, Goran Ivanisevic (Croatia), Roger Federer (Switzerland), Rafael Nadal (Spain), Andy Roddick (the United States of America), Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Britain’s own Andy Murray and Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain).
The ATP Tour event in Dubai also features a doubles event which has also seen British success when Joe Salisbury team with Rajeev Ram of America to defeat the team of Ben McLachlan (New Zealand / Japan) and Jan-Lennard Struff (Germany).
The 2022 edition of the men’s event saw Andrey Rublev of Russia defeat Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic in straight sets which saw back-to-back titles for Russian stars after Aslan Karatsev defeated Lloyd Harris of South Africa in 2021.
Whilst some players do do double duty and play both the singles and doubles event, the majority of teams to play in the ATP Dubai doubles event are doubles specialists and that can lead to lots of great action which once again all can be watched live via the live streaming services that appear below.
