Australian A League
With Rugby League being the dominate football code in Australia the competition has developed around towns and cities that have Rugby League teams as most clubs share their stadiums with NRL tams.
This has probably been a help to the A League as Rugby League is in every main Australian city (bar Perth) which has led to football teams been developed in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The current format of the league also takes inspiration from Rugby League which makes it a much easier sell for Australian and New Zealand fans with all teams competing in a regular season before the top teams taking part in an end of season play off, with a grand final determining the winner of the A League.

The top continental side for A League teams is the Asian Football Confederation Champions League, also known as the AFC Champions League or simply as the ACL, which is similar to the Champions League in Europe as it pits the top teams from across the continent to decide upon the champions of Asia.
With no promotion and relegation in the A League, all of the teams battle it out for a Minor Premiership, winning the league and for a place in the Grand Final to make sure they qualify for Champions League football although as a New Zealand based team, the Wellington Phoenix cannot qualify for the ACL.
