Karen Khachanov Tennis Live

Karen Khachanov is a Russian tennis player who plays on the men’s ATP Tour where he has developed a reputation as an aggressive baseliner.

Born in the Russian capital city of Moscow to an Armenian father, who had been an incredibly good volleyball player, and a Russian mother, it was at school when the youngster first found his love of tennis.

He decided early on to become a tennis professional, or to at least try his hardest to become one and in that determination to succeed he has moved around Europe from a young age starting off in Split, Croatia under the tutelage of Goran Ivanisevic’s former coach Vedran Martic.

He then moved to Barcelona, under the tutelage of Galo Blanco and has also lived in Dubai.

This nomadic has seemingly worked for him since turning professional in 2013 as he has gone onto to enjoy title success on the ATP Tour, has represented his country at the David Cup and he has broken into he top 10 ranked players in the world.

Watch Karen Khachanov Live

After turning pro in 2013, he made an instant name for himself after surprising Mikhail Youzhny as the youngest Russian player in the pro series at the age of 17 and 157 days, he also beat the then world number 8 Janko Tipsarevic at the Kremlin Cup and he picked up a win against Dean O’Brien of South Africa in the Davis Cup.

That was a sing of the quality of the young Russian and the potential that he had, something which continued to be shown over the next few years when he picked up his first title on the futures tour in 2014 and his first challenger level title in 2015.

Things continued in 2016 when he picked up his first ATP Tour level title at the Chengdu Open, when he beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the final.

In 2017, he defeated his first top 10 star and started to show improvement at the Grand Slams before picking up his first Masters 1000 title in 2018 at the Paris Masters.

In 2018 he broke into the top 10 for the first time and he is now a well established star on the tour that every opponent knowns that he has the capability to beat them.

Khachanov is a player who struggles with consistency as when he is on form he is a player who is capable of mixing it up and either playing to his strengths as a defensive player and keeping the ball constantly in play or can switch it up and become more aggressive and play winners as and when needed.

He is a player who is stronger on the forehand and is capable of using lots of spin to move players around the court. This helps him to dictate points and to keep on the front foot.

One issue that is often pointed out about the big hitting Russian is his lack of variety in points and whilst this can often not be an issue, it can be a problem when up against the top stars of the ATP Tour.

In an almost role rehearsal, he is a player who actually struggles with defence when out of form as he often tries to overcome any problems by going all out for winners and whilst that does lead to mistakes it does make him an incredibly attractive and exciting player to watch out on the court and that is exactly what you can do via any of the great streaming services found on this page.

To watch Karen Khachanov all you have to do is select one of our Tennis live streaming partners, register (and have a funded account if you register with an online bookmaker) and then choose the match you want to watch.

History

HISTORY OF KAREN KHACHANOV: FROM MOSCOW TO THE ATP TOUR

Karen Abgarovich Khachanov was born on 21 May 1996 in Moscow, Russia. His family background included sporting and academic influences: his father, Abgar, played volleyball at a high level before studying medicine, while his mother, Natalia, also studied medicine. Khachanov began playing tennis at the age of three, starting a relationship with the sport long before most children have settled on a favourite playground activity.

Growing up in Moscow gave him opportunities to experience Russian tennis during a period when the country had already produced several prominent players. He attended the Kremlin Cup and encountered established Russian tennis figures, including Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Nikolay Davydenko, Andrei Chesnokov, Igor Andreev and Igor Kunitsyn. These experiences exposed him to the professional game and helped shape his ambitions. Among his childhood tennis idols were Marat Safin and Argentine star Juan Martín del Potro, two players renowned for their attacking games and powerful groundstrokes. Given Khachanov’s own style, those influences make considerable sense.

Khachanov progressed through junior and lower-tier professional competition before making his mark on the ATP Tour. In 2013, aged 17, he received a wild card into the Moscow tournament, then part of the ATP World Tour calendar. He reached the quarter-finals, where he lost to Janko Tipsarević. The performance offered an early indication that he could compete against established professionals despite his youth.

He turned professional in 2013 and spent the following seasons developing his game through Futures and Challenger events. These tournaments are an essential part of professional tennis, giving emerging players the chance to accumulate ranking points, learn to manage demanding schedules and compete against experienced opponents outside the sport’s biggest arenas. In 2015, Khachanov won his first ATP Challenger title in Istanbul, defeating Sergiy Stakhovsky in the final. That victory helped him build momentum and move closer to regular participation at tour level.

His breakthrough on the main ATP Tour arrived in 2016. Khachanov won his first ATP Tour singles title at the Chengdu Open in China, defeating Spain’s Albert Ramos-Viñolas in the final. It was a significant milestone: he had progressed from a promising young player to a tournament champion capable of winning matches across an entire draw. The title also established him as one of the emerging Russian players worth following.

In 2017, Khachanov continued his progress, reaching the semi-finals in Halle and qualifying for the inaugural Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan. That end-of-season tournament brought together some of the leading young players on the tour, including Daniil Medvedev and Borna Ćorić. Although Khachanov did not advance beyond the round-robin stage, his qualification reflected the improvement he had made over the previous seasons. His ranking rose steadily, and he finished the year positioned for a more substantial breakthrough.

The breakthrough arrived in 2018. Khachanov won three ATP Tour singles titles that season, beginning with Marseille in February. Later in the year, he won the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, becoming the first Russian player to claim the title since Mikhail Youzhny in 2009. Winning at home was particularly meaningful because the tournament had been part of his development as a young spectator.

His greatest achievement of 2018 came at the Paris Masters, one of the ATP Tour’s prestigious Masters 1000 tournaments. Khachanov defeated John Isner, Alexander Zverev, Dominic Thiem and Novak Djokovic on his way to the championship. His final against Djokovic ended in a 7–5, 6–4 victory, bringing an end to Djokovic’s 22-match winning streak at the time. Khachanov became the first unseeded player to win a Masters 1000 title since David Nalbandian at the 2007 Paris Masters. The triumph announced his arrival among the sport’s serious contenders and helped him finish the season at world No. 11.

In June 2019, Khachanov entered the world’s top 10, becoming the first Russian man to reach that group since Mikhail Youzhny in 2011. He reached a career-high ranking of world No. 8 on 15 July 2019. That season also featured a strong run at the French Open, where he reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final in 2019 after defeating Juan Martín del Potro in the fourth round. He eventually lost to Dominic Thiem, but the result confirmed his ability to perform on clay as well as hard courts.

Khachanov’s progress continued into the next decade, although maintaining a place among the world’s elite proved challenging. The ATP Tour is exceptionally competitive, and players must continually adapt as younger rivals emerge and established champions refine their tactics. Khachanov continued to reach the later rounds of major tournaments and Masters events, demonstrating that his 2018 Paris victory was not an isolated success.

One of the defining moments of his career came at the Tokyo Olympics, held in 2021 after the Games were postponed from 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Representing the Russian Olympic Committee, Khachanov advanced to the men’s singles final. He defeated Pablo Carreño Busta in the semi-finals before facing Germany’s Alexander Zverev for the gold medal. Zverev won the final 6–3, 6–1, leaving Khachanov with the silver medal. Although he narrowly missed the top prize, the achievement remains one of the most important milestones in his career.

At the 2022 US Open, Khachanov produced another outstanding Grand Slam campaign. He reached his first major semi-final, defeating Nick Kyrgios in a five-set quarter-final that lasted more than three hours. The contest was a demanding test of concentration and endurance, and Khachanov prevailed 7–5 in the deciding set. He then faced Casper Ruud in the semi-finals and lost in four sets. Despite the defeat, his performance confirmed his ability to navigate the latter stages of a major championship.

In January 2023, Khachanov reached his second Grand Slam semi-final at the Australian Open. His run included a quarter-final victory over Sebastian Korda, who retired injured while trailing by two sets. Khachanov subsequently lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals. Later that year, he reached the French Open quarter-finals, further demonstrating his versatility across different playing conditions.

Khachanov also experienced significant success in doubles. At the 2022 Australian Open, he partnered Australian Nick Kyrgios to win the men’s doubles title. The pair defeated compatriots Thanasi Kokkinakis and Kyrgios’s fellow Australian opponents in the final? More precisely, the final was against Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell, with Kyrgios and Khachanov winning in straight sets. The title added a Grand Slam doubles championship to Khachanov’s singles achievements and highlighted his ability to adapt his aggressive game to a different format.

In 2024, Khachanov returned to the winners’ circle by capturing the Almaty Open title in Kazakhstan. He also reached the final in Vienna later that month, demonstrating strong form during the indoor season. The back-to-back deep runs were particularly notable because indoor hard courts suit his serve-led attacking style.

Khachanov continued to demonstrate his resilience in 2025. At the Canadian Open in Toronto, he reached the final after saving a match point against Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. His run was especially notable because it marked his return to a Masters 1000 final after a gap of more than six years. He eventually lost to Ben Shelton, but the performance reinforced his reputation as a player capable of rebuilding momentum and challenging top opponents.

In 2026, Khachanov added further Grand Slam milestones to his record. At the US Open, he defeated Félix Auger-Aliassime in the second round and subsequently reached the semi-finals after Alexander Blockx retired while Khachanov was leading in their quarter-final. The result marked his second appearance in the US Open semi-finals, following his 2022 run. It also underlined his ability to remain competitive at the highest level well into his thirties? Khachanov was 30 in 2026, an age at which many players are still competing strongly, rather than entering retirement.

Off the court, Khachanov has maintained interests beyond tennis, including basketball, football, chess and hip-hop music. He speaks Russian, English and Spanish, and has cited basketball as a possible alternative career if he had not become a professional tennis player. He married Veronika in 2016, and their son, David, was born in September 2019. These personal details offer a glimpse of the life behind the tournament results, although his achievements on court remain the main reason for his place in tennis history.

Today, Karen Khachanov’s career is defined by a combination of major titles, consistent performances at Grand Slam tournaments, an Olympic silver medal and the ability to challenge the world’s leading players. His 2018 Paris Masters victory remains a landmark achievement, while his Grand Slam semi-finals and subsequent Masters 1000 final appearances demonstrate lasting competitiveness. For anyone researching Karen Khachanov’s biography, ATP ranking, tennis history or career achievements, his journey offers a clear example of how power, persistence and experience can combine to produce success at the highest level of professional tennis.
